The 2009 Commuter Challenge is a team-based friendly competition in which 5 individuals join together to form a team. Between 5/1/2009 and 6/30/2009 the more days you avoid driving alone, the more points you earn for your team, the more prizes you win. Click here for more info.
Here is how you participate:
Either create your own team: Come up with a team name and create your own team. You can make your team "Restricted" and invite specific people to join your team or you can "Allow Anybody" to join. Each team must have at least 2 "Converts" to qualify for prizes. This year we are expanding the definition of a "Convert." For 2009, a "Convert" is either:
a) anyone that did not compete in the 2008 Commuter Challenge, OR
b) anyone that has used alternative transportation rather than driving alone LESS THAN once a week on average over the past 3 months (this means less than 13 days using alternative transportation from Jan. 1 through Mar. 31).

Or join an existing team: You can select "Join this team" to join a team (a yellow lock means it is a restricted team). If you were sent an email invitation for a restricted team, your Pass Code is embedded in the email message you were sent.
Then log your trips: On May 1, start logging your trips on your Commute Calendar and start earning great prizes. A qualifying trip is a utilitarian trip that might have been made alone by car but instead you took an alternative transportation mode (Multimodal, Carpool - Drive, Carpool - Ride, Vanpool - Drive, Vanpool - Ride, Bike, Walk, Bus, Telecommute, Rollerblade/Skateboard, Train, or Carfree Trip on Vacation).
Congratulations! You made it. Your last chance to log trips was 8:30 am on July 2.
