2008 Commute Challenge is a team-based friendly competition in which 5 individuals join together to form a team. Between 8/1/2008 and 9/30/2008 the more days you avoid driving alone, the more points you earn for your team, the more prizes you win. Click here for more info.
Here is how you participate:
Either create your own team: Come up with a team name and create your own team. You can make your team "Restricted" and invite specific people to join your team or you can "Allow Anybody" to join. Each team must have at least 2 "Converts" to qualify for prizes. A Convert is someone that drives alone most of the time, but for the Commute Challenge starts to use Multimodal, Carpool - Drive, Carpool - Ride, Vanpool - Drive, Vanpool - Ride, Bike, Walk, Bus, Telecommute, Rollerblade/Skateboard, or Train. Or join an existing team: You can select "Join this team" to join a team (a yellow lock means it is a restricted team). If you were sent an email invitation for a restricted team, your Pass Code is embedded in the email message you were sent.
Then log your trips: On August 1, start logging your trips on your Commute Calendar and start earning great prizes. A qualifying trip is a utilitarian trip that might have been made alone by car but instead you took an alternative transportation mode (Multimodal, Carpool - Drive, Carpool - Ride, Vanpool - Drive, Vanpool - Ride, Bike, Walk, Bus, Telecommute, Rollerblade/Skateboard, or Train).
The Commute Challenge is closed!
The current team rankings list does not necessarily reflect the winners and final points for the Commute Challenge. The list of winners and points were extracted by Traffic Solutions on Wednesday afternoon. Any changes that were made to calendars after that point are not considered valid for the prize giveaway. The final team rankings and winners will be reported once Traffic Solutions verifies the top 101 qualified teams.
